About this volume
There is a time for listening, before deciding. This book begins in the time right after, when listening is no longer enough and what has been heard must be turned into something able to carry the weight of a family, a plant, and a generation waiting to know what it will inherit.
Alberto Ferri, the patriarch Kofi, Kwame and Raffaele do not resolve their conflicts with a formula. They go through them one chapter at a time, the way an old coffee machine turns water, heat and raw matter into something that was not there before: not by magic, but by time, pressure and patience applied in the right order.

Who is who
- Alberto Ferri
- founder and guide of the family holding. He learned to govern not by running faster than the system, but by finding where the system starts moving on its own.
- Kaltrina
- Alberto's wife, a lawyer. She reads a courtroom with the same attention she has read her husband with for twenty years.
- Kofi
- the patriarch, founder of the Abuja plant. In thirty years he built a boiler that nobody, himself included, had ever called by that name.
- Kwame
- Kofi's son, trained in London. He arrives convinced his father's company is a burden to disintermediate; chapter by chapter, he learns to become its filter.
- Raffaele Roma
- engineer, the industrial backbone of the group. He solves problems before being authorised to solve them.
- Mapi
- head of finance and legal affairs. She reads the company as a breathing map, not as a photograph.
- Vespa
- head of satellite telemetry, from the Toulouse control centre. She sees the company as a physical flow of matter before it is a set of numbers.
- Ariane Vencourt
- reference figure for the family governance of the group, based in Geneva.
